During this workcamp, the volunteers will walk from Drôme (France) to the Swiss border and explore different regions of France (Isère, Savoie, Haute Savoie). Since then, the villages around have been deserted and the abbey came to ruins. Many workcamps were organised in partnership with a local organisation, ‘The Abbey of Clausonne’s friends’, in order to protect the ruins from vegetation and hard winters. The aim of 2009 workcamp is to carry on with the protection of the ruins and to improve the landscape around the abbey. Project: The cultural association, “le Fourmidiable” wants to revive the “Café du people” of Veynes, one of the old bars of the town that has been closed for many years. This local hot spot will be renovated and transformed into a cultural venue with exhibitions, concerts and a library. This workcamp will be the 3rd one that we have organised in partnership with “le Fourmidiable”. In 2009, the work will consist of decorating the walls of the Café, building a stage and a movable bar. The members of the Fourmidiable cultural organisation take part in the project by organising cultural evenings, meals and visits with the volunteers...Veynes is a small town of 3000 inhabitants located in the south Alps of France. The region offers a lot of opportunities to organise walks in the mountains, bivouac, go to local festivals etc.
